My Travel Diaries
Three featured entries below — more coming soon!
Sequoia National Park, USA
When: Summer 2025 roadtrip vacation
The first sight of General Sherman felt like meeting a century in person.
Sap and sun, granite and sky. Short trails, long memories; we spoke in
whispers without meaning to.
- Stops: General Sherman Tree, Moro Rock (short, steep steps).
- Tip: Arrive early; let the forest do the talking.
- Keep: Water, layers, and a disposable camera for fun.
Seoul, South Korea
When: Semester abroad, Spring 2024
Petals of 벚꽃 (beot-kkot) drifted through the air like pink snow,
covering the sidewalks along the Han River. Cafés filled with soft chatter
and camera clicks — a season that disappears too soon.
- Must see: Cherry blossoms by Yeouido Park — Seoul’s pink heart 🌸 in full bloom.
- Meal memory: Tonkotsu with all the sides — kimchi, pickled radish, soft-boiled egg — perfect after a long walk.
- Soundtrack: The quiet hum of city buses under falling petals.
Dubai, UAE
When: Late August-early September = perfect time to get sunburned
The city shimmered like it was made of glass and mirages. I learned that “5 minutes outside”
can be an extreme sport when it’s 45 °C. Between the golden dunes, mirrored towers,
and the irresistible pull of air-conditioning, every moment felt both surreal and cinematic.
- Survival tip: Sunscreen first, existential thoughts later.
- Snapshot: Burj Khalifa: view from the 125th floor — cars below looked like tiny insects.
- Break time: Traditional faloodeh — crushed ice noodles with rose water and sour syrup.
